Media & Journalism

Most recently, Bridie has been presenting Weekends from 10am-1pm on The Mix Radio and Wednesday afternoons on The Mix Radio Extra.  Her shows are light and uplifting with a big focus on the music being played and the artists who make it. On Saturdays there was a throwback theme, focussing on pop, punk and rock music from the 90s and 2000s, whereas on Wednesdays the sole focus was songs by female artists for the #GirlPowerPlaylist. Bridie is very passionate about music and uses her platform as a Radio Presenter to share the music that inspired her growing up and influences her today.

In collaboration with Front Right Media, Bridie has created her own podcast themed around graduates, students and working professionals beginning their careers. The show is called 'the&podcast' and features guests from various backgrounds that discuss their personal journeys on specific topics to do with their experience with education and work. Bridie records, edits and promotes her podcast from home, which has been both a blessing and challenge during the COVID-19 pandemic. The conversations that are had on the&podcast are topical and truthful, encouraging further discussions around difficult topics as well as light-hearted fun.

Bridie was part of the original presenting team for BBC Radio Leicester's 'Fresh Air'. Along with her co-host, Dafydd Evans, they create content for an hour long show from 9-10pm on Monday nights. This included interviews with BBC Introducing artists from across the East Midlands, such as; Sea Girls, Ro Jordan and ARCADES. Music Journalism is Bridie's main passion which was made certain throughout her time at BBC Radio Leicester.

This involved liaising with the different sports teams at DMU and venues around Leicester to organise live and recorded commentaries. She previously had the role of Assistant Producer from across weekend broadcasting which was studio based.
